Afturhvorf is an Icelandic period piece set in 1825. In a time where women were voiceless, Álfheiður is sentenced to death, incarcerated in a temporary cell which Lola (Lily Speiser) a Danish migrant, must oversee. In this isolated and impossibly dark world, both find a sliver of freedom in their connection, despite any ability to understand one another.
